A generous, round style of lightly oaked SB with a nose of grapefruit, herbs and touches of toast and vanilla. The fruit is ripe on the palate with tropical fruits, grapefruit and oak-spice accents.
An interesting Malbec showing red currant, tobacco leaf, green herbal notes, a splash of vanilla and a trace of clove on the nose. Nicely structured, with red currant fruit, approachable tannins and a light dollop of milk chocolate, it finishes with a well-integrated, lightly dry finish.
This little-known grape from Argentina produces a wine that is purple-black in colour with a spicy, vanilla and black-cherry nose. Medium-bodied and dry with good presence in the mouth, it has black plum and cherry flavours ending on a cedary note. The good news is that at $14.95 it punches way above its weight. A red-meat wine if ever there was one.
A delightful warm-weather sipper. Very pale in colour with an aromatic nose of orange blossom. Dry, light-bodied, crisp and clean with grapefruit and mineral notes in the flavour.
Cherry-red. Spicy nose with red berries and oak notes. Charming on the palate with a ripe fruity taste, a fleshy texture and tame acidity. Best drunk right now.
Dense ruby in colour with a herb-tinged, blackcurrant and cedar nose; full-bodied, dry and firmly structured. Will reward cellaring for 2 to 3 years.
From Salta's high desert, vineyards for this Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend are at 2000 m altitude — a pristine, extreme environment. Amalaya is the local word for the hopes of a bountiful harvest, and this bio-dynamically farmed marvel certainly has enjoyed that. Wild dark berries, espresso, herbal twine and stem weave along a fuller-bodied palate with perfumed florals, juicy plum and ripe blackberry jam. Acidity is brisk and fresh, and tannins are ripe and softly supportive, with a welcome tug on the finish. Peppery spices texture throughout.
