Viognier can quickly become a caricature of itself, but not in the hand of Christine Vernay. In my opinion, she makes some of best in the world thanks to the combination of her talent and the great terroir where her vines are planted. There is beautiful energy in her wine. Delicate and precise where the notes of apricot and white peaches are in symbiosis with the salinity and wet stone. Lobster with butter please.
This traditionally made sparkler is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and spends 2 years on the lees. It shows lovely strawberry, raspberry, toasted notes and minerals with a medium, persistent mousse. It has wonderfully creamy texture and is more rounded on the palate with rich red fruits and a smoky/brioche note on the finish.
Loads of concentration here. Dense purple colour with a spicy, floral, blackberry nose tinged with toasted herbs. Gorgeous mouthfeel with minerally black fruit flavours that finish on a savoury note.
A late-picked Alsatian style offering elegant, aromatic floral and leesy scents with a touch of pepper and classic varietal rose-petal notes. Rounded, generous fruit flavours showcase prominent apricot character with balancing acidity and mineral grip.
Medium ruby in colour; lightly floral nose of cherries with spicy oak notes; medium-bodied, dry, firmly structured, red cherry flavour a well-balanced wine with a firm tannic structure.
This is 100% Cabernet Franc with 52% of the grapes dried for 125 days in the appassimento style. It is a beautiful thing with a thick and rich nose of cassis, blackcurrants, fine herbs, plums, gorgeous oak spice and sweet cedar undertones. The dark, juicy fruits are joined by kirsch, rousing spice notes and electric acidity on the palate.
Very dark colour. Deep but discreet nose of pastry cream and subdued red and black fruits, typical of a very young promising wine. Silky on the outside; you can feel the power within it, the concentrated core coats the mouth leading to a very tight finish that reveals the fine grainy tannins. Hold 10 years and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.
