This wicked blend of Pinot Blanc (80%) and Pinot Noir (20%) washes away the memories of all those candy-floss rosés in just one sip. There’s a deliberate nod to Provence here, with a pale salmon hue and lusciously refreshing strawberry notes that hover over a pleasing nice mineral streak with a crisp, clean finish.
Opens with blackcurrant, green herb and a light whiff of spice. Supple dark-fruit flavours unfold lightly sweet blackcurrant, blackberry and plum with velvety smooth tannins; deftly balanced acidity, culminating in a well-integrated, satisfying finish.
Sourced from unirrigated, low-yielding 40-year-old bush vines, it unleashes astonishing complexity. Floral, spicy, honeyed aromas lead to rich flavours of baked apple, ripe pear and vanilla. Partial new French oak aging confers structure, a buttery texture and long finish. Serve with Asian-spiced seafood.
Hine (IMHO) is one of the best of the “big” Cognac producers, and this Rare VSOP epitomizes the house style: elegant and classy. Dried apricot, vanilla, baking spice and aged oak on the nose. A very refined palate; mid-weight with spicy/floral nuances, it deftly balances a fruity top note with a peppery/spicy edge.
Loads of bright red fruit and spice on the nose which carry through on the palate with fresh herbs, a hint of well integrated oak, balanced, medium-bodied but full flavoured and a long, lingering finish. A versatile food wine that is elegant enough to pair with salmon and structured enough for roast meats.
Always a classic SB with gooseberry, grass, passionfruit and a basket of garden herbs on the nose. It’s lean and crisp in the mouth with kiwi, grapefruit and searing acidity. Old-school Sauvignon.
Shows light amber in the glass, with creamy persistent head and lightly aromatic herbal hoppy and malty aromas. Fruity, malty and dusty dry hoppy flavours are nicely balanced, finishing with long herbal bitterness.
