Opens with blackcurrant, blackberry and lively green herbal scent with a pinch of clove. Blackcurrant and blackberry reemerge on the palate. Well balanced, with just a light splash of chocolate and dry tannic grip.
Alta Chardonnay was sourced from 2 vineyards in the Valle de Uco: Adrianna in Gualtallary and Domingo in Villa Bastias. 10-12 months in oak, 1st- and 2nd-use oak, is felt in the full and round palate, with up-front wood, a round, firm structure, and ample vanilla spicing on the warm finish. Heady lemon curd, white peach and a lift of citrus trying here, but at this point, losing out to the density and concentration.
Clear, the colour of dark cherry cola. Medium-intensity nose of dark berries and vanilla oak. Robust black cherry on the palate, barely restrained by sturdy tannins and healthy acidity. Will improve with another 1-2 years.
Light ruby colour with a minerally, cherry nose; elegant raspberry and cherry flavours, velvety on the palate with a dry, firm finish.
Elegant, fragrant and fresh with penetrating sour cherry, wild berries and wild currant aromas and flavours, great structure and focus with finesse and a stony minerality; freshly herbal and lengthy, crisp finish. The vineyard on the slopes of Mt Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe, and high altitude contribute to the vibrancy, intensity and minerality of the wine. Don’t let the lighter colour fool you, this wine has loads of finesse and character and is the perfect example to show that a wine doesn’t need to be dark and heavy to be great. 100% Nerello Mascalese from 80- to 100-year-old pre-phylloxera bush wines.
Crisp and clean with no oak to take away from the purity of the fruit. Ripe apple, pear, citrus, lilac and minerals. Dry and refreshing with great persistency.
Perfumed potpourri of spices, with sultry raspberry, strawberry jam, lavender, baked rhubarb, pink peppercorns flooding the medium-bodied palate, one sharpened with a balsamic note and finishing with a flush of warmth. Tannins are gentle and soft on a downy cushion. Easy to like, and an accessible entry into Pinot without being dumbed down.
