An attractive nose of savoury cherry, dried herbs, earth, bramble, anise and stylish oak spice notes. Plenty of red berries on the palate but also earthy/loam, herbs and elegant oak spices. This is serious Pinot that’s caressing on the palate and delivered on a bed of silky tannins.
Clear, very deep garnet. Nose of plums and forest floor with spices and a hint of mint. On the palate it is medium-bodied, fruity and soft, with blackberry and cherry flavours, all elements being in good balance. Could be kept another year.
Dark ruby. Ripe nose of black fruits, toasted oak, hints of tar. Dense and ripe on the palate, acidity is on the low side; powerful middle palate and an intense, slightly warm finish.
Warmly ripe, spicy-scented red cherry on the nose shifts to black cherry and dark chocolate in the mouth, with firm tannic structure and appetizing acidity. Shows a little more weight and ripeness than expected, likely attributable to the attractive 2015 vintage.
A superstar in the making, one of the finest Chards Bachelder has made — and that’s saying a lot. It is tightly wound, yes, at this moment, but the limestone minerality and salinity speaks to the soul of this wine. Such aromatics of pear, apple for sure, a vein of fresh citrus and all intertwined with the subtlety of fine oak spice and flint. It’s deep, layered and seductive on the palate, a pure and exhilarating Chardonnay.
A bargain at the price. Deep ruby colour with a savoury, red-berry, herbal nose; medium-bodied, dry, herby, raspberry flavour. A touch of sweetness in mid-palate but nicely balanced.
Yellow straw colour with a concentrated bouquet of pineapple, vanilla oak and toast; full on the palate with sweet tropical fruit flavours tempered by lively acidity and a mineral note. Great length here.
