Medium-deep brownish garnet. Nose of tobacco, leather, dried cherries; a hint of barnyard. Medium-bodied with dark berry flavours that are starting to dry out. Drink up.
Purplish colour. Blackberry, blueberry and other black fruits; pastry notes from the oak. Supple attack, smooth and rich, fruity taste. The chewy tannins are quite soft, almost tender. Its full body lasts well into the warm finish. Best enjoyed now on braised red meat or casserole.
Now that Beaujolais Nouveau is out of the way, why not try a named village wine from the region that has real class? The wine is a deep purple colour with a nose of black cherries and moist earth; medium-bodied, it has a richly extracted cherry flavour with lively acidity. A fruity Beaujolais that really makes a statement.
This is a Rhône wine best cellared for a decade or more but still quite attractive right now, with a nose of savoury and meaty red fruits, cedar, cassis, sweet oak stylings and Asian spices. It’s thick and juicy on the palate with robust red fruits, bramble, liquorice and oak spices, all delivered on a healthy bed of smooth tannins. Drink now with roast duck or lamb or cellar for 10 years or more.
Medium-deep pinkish scarlet. Typical Pinot nose of violets and raspberries. Medium-bodied, tannic; needs time, but has lots of fruit in good balance.
Pale gold. Bouquet of pears, apples and spice. Medium-bodied; tastes of melons, apples and ripe pears. Straightforward, good entry-level white Burgundy.
Shows straightforward but stylish Burgundy green apple fruit and good acid with enough weight, mineral and creamy texture to provide excellent balance and food-friendly character.
