Rich, doughy and concentrated, this blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco commands attention with its ample heady autolytic character. 20% vintage wine and 28 months on the lees amps up the volume and density, while a persistent bead of acidity works overtime to lift the heft. Baked apple, brioche, nougat and lemon are supported with creamy mousse and fine spice through the lingering finish. Confident presence and rich from top to bottom, this would pair with mains such as roasted partridge with élan.
Straw-coloured with a minerally, white peach and gooseberry nose; medium-bodied, dry, beautifully balanced and elegant with lemony, white peach flavours. Great price.
I tasted this magnificent Muscat of Alexandria at the Vancouver Wine Festival. Amber colour with honey, orange peel, raisins, dates and figs on the nose; full-bodied with burnt sugar and molasses flavours, beautifully harmonious with enough acidity to balance and give great length.
Kaleidoscopic aromas of violets, blueberry, red cherry, black plum and liquorice. Juicy acidity, soft tannins, up-front fruit 'n' spice flavours and lingering cinnamon and balsamic notes. Remarkably versatile and food-friendly.
Quite fragrant and powerful with cherry, liquorice, leather and tobacco flavours; lean and muscular with great balance and focus and a finish lingering with bright fruit and spice.
Aged 18 months in French oak. Fragrant aromas of floral, herbal and wild berries turn to flavours of savoury red berries, blackcurrant, liquorice and spice. The elegant palate features satiny tannins and leads to some intense minerality on the finish. Delicious with grilled chicken.
Black cherry, some blackcurrant notes and subtle spice on the nose give way to concentrated dark fruit on the palate delivered in a polished, well-structured package. Tannins are still somewhat aggressive and will benefit from another year or 2 in the cellar.
