This second vintage of their 100% Naramata Bench estate-grown Moscato Giallo (Yellow Muscat) continues to delight and impress. The characteristic grapey fruit explosion grabs your attention and seduces your nose and palate. The sweet peach upfront turns to vibrant citrus and melon on the mid-palate and then intriguing dried blueberries on the long finish. Its medium dry style makes it a great match with prosciutto-wrapped melon with tangy pecorino cheese.
This 5-variety Bordeaux blend — led by Merlot (50%) — opens with fragrant cassis, black plum and chocolate. The lively palate follows with rich mocha and blackcurrant flavours. Finishes with complex tobacco and coffee bean. Aerate to soften the tannins before serving with your holiday roast.
In the Cahors region of France, where Malbec is grown, the moniker used to describe those wines is ‘Les Vins Noirs de Cahors.’ Back home, Creekside has indeed produced a black wine, which releases raspberries, roses, cassis, spice and chocolate-coated coffee bean. Medium-to-full-bodied, the tannins arrive with authority on the finale allowing it to be enjoyed over the next 2 to 3 years, with the heartiest fare possible.
The three Speck brothers look like a rock group on the label but they’re really very clean-cut young guys. A testimony to their competitiveness is the rock, paper, scissors symbol on the back label. Their Sibling Rivalry Pink 2010 is a rosé blend of Cabernet, Gamay and Syrah. It offers flavours of cranberry and raspberry with a hint of sweetness and a fresh orange finish.
Straw coloured with a bouquet of almonds and apples with a mineral note; medium-bodied, spicy apple flavour, richly extracted fruit; good length and great value.
Agreeable cherry and light herbal notes on the nose, with cherry and blackberry flavours, moderate tannins and good overall balance. Better without the touch of residual sweetness.
On the nose, this one reveals surprisingly ripe blackberry and plum scents together with spicy notes from American oak. Not as forward on the palate, with characteristic Nova Scotia brisk acidity and dry tannins.
