A nice change from Malbec. Dense purple in colour, the wine shows a vanilla-oak and currant nose; it’s full-bodied with surprisingly ripe red and black currant flavours tinged with notes of mint and pencil lead and finishing firmly with evident tannins.
Rich and concentrated, but so elegant with a pretty nose and layers of blackberry, currant, red liquorice and red plum with supple tannins and balanced, fresh acidity on the long mineral finish. A delicious value.
A stylish and focused wine with loads of spiced flavours of raspberry, cherry, black and red currants, mocha, earth and fresh herbs. Fine-grained tannins, elegant mouthfeel, bright acidity and a soft, refined finish. Great with wild game. An amazing value.
Evident but subtle notes of toasty oak, white peach and floral on the nose, very fresh in the mouth with pure apple and melon. Minerally with a sleek, long, mouth-wateringly lifted finish. Great balance, brightness and complexity.
Grape names can be confusing. Auxerrois is a white grape grown in Alsace. Auxerrois is also a red grape grown in Cahors; but in Argentina, Cahors’ Auxerrois is called Malbec and it’s what they do best in the Mendoza Valley. This is a prime example. Dense ruby-purple in colour, it has a smoky, minerally, red berry nose; it’s full-bodied, dry, soft and unctuous on the palate with well-integrated oak. Good value.
Clear, deep plum-red. Medium-plus intensity nose of kirsch and spice and smoke from oak aging. Medium- to full-bodied with lots of ripe, sweet black cherry-fruit; well-balanced, if a little high in alcohol. A poster child for basic good-value Argentinean Malbec. Drink up.
From the initial offering in 2006, the quality of this bargain wine fell off a bit, but now it's back on form and a real bargain in the 1500 ml format. Deeply coloured with a nose of black cherries and raspberries, fruity but firm and gulpable. Perfect for barbecue parties.
