A very tasty Cab for the price. Dense ruby-purple colour with a smoky, cedar and blackcurrant nose; well extracted flavours of blackcurrant; medium to full-bodied, fruit-driven, dry with soft ripe tannins and balancing acidity. Good length.
Shows white peach, some tropical fruit with grassy herbal and gooseberry Sauvignon notes. Grassy green fruit is mellowed by rounded tropical-fruit flavours with firm mineral and bright acidity.
Very pale in colour with a greenish tint; minerally, pear skin with a light floral note. There’s a touch of sweetness in mid-palate with peach and pear flavours; medium-bodied with moderate length. Good value.
Light straw in colour with a green tint; leesy apple and pineapple nose with a touch of oak; full in the mouth, rich and spicy with pineapple and orange flavours and a fine spine of acidity that carries the flavour. Good value.
Very pale, almost water-white in colour with a gooseberry/green-fig nose and a grassy note; medium-bodied, dry with a gooseberry-jam flavour. Good mouthfeel with a crisp acidic finish.
Here is another terrific Cathedral Cellar offering, featuring lots of sweet fruit both on the nose and palate: raspberry, plum and cherry meld with earth, pepper, leather and cocoa. The finish is long. Drink over the next 3 years with a peppercorn NY strip.
This improbable blend of the red Pinotage with Chenin Blanc reveals unusual aromas of dried savoury as well as floral and ripe fruit scents. Characteristic Chenin citrusy flavours lead off on the palate with red berry fruit in a minor key. An imaginative, well-balanced wine.
