I’m not a huge PG fan, but this one blew me away. It is clear, the colour of yellow Chartreuse. The nose has hints of watermelon and candy floss, but it mainlines warm baked apple. Very full-bodied, sweetish but still mouth-watering flavours of tropical fruits, peaches, and a bit of rhubarb. Serve with simple vegetarian fare and let the wine be the star.
Full ruby. Abundant bright fruit; luxurious oak is very present at this stage. Full of yummy fruity flavour, velvety mouthfeel, great balance and very long finish. Overall splendid and promised to a great future.
Do NOT open this wine now — you would be committing infanticide. Purple red, clear but so dense it is opaque. Nose of strawberries, light molasses, tea, tobacco and leather. Packed with cassis and blackberries, it is presently too tannic and unharmonious — the score is based on potential.
Medium yellow/gold. Powerful aromas of ripe apple, olive and tangerine are apparent well outside the glass. Unoaked but full-bodied and buttery, with flavours of pineapple, peaches, and strawberry preserves. Peaking now; will plateau for many years.
Medium plum-red. The aromas are of cherries, blackberries, oak and spice, and become quite alluring with time in the glass. In the mouth one could wish for a little more of the red-berry fruit and a little less acidity. Medium-bodied, this is a decent entry-level Burgundy.
Shows white pepper and dark fruit on the nose. Dark fruit theme carries through on the palate with full-bodied blackberry and black cherry, firm tannins and plenty of alcohol, leaving a touch of heat on the finish.
A Rhône blend of 45% Grenache, 45% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre from 60- to 90-year-old vines. A nose of kirsch, raspberry, cherry, plum, earth and a nice chocolate note. This is juicy stuff in the mouth with dark, rich fruits, licorice, earth, tar and fine tannins. A nice treat for lovers of this rustic yet pleasing style.
