The Women Are Up Front
Into Wine’s 2013 “Top 100 Influential People in the US Wine Industry” list featured two women in the top twenty; 18 of the 100 were female. The oldest known record of beer brewing comes from Ancient Egypt, where beer was made and sold almost entirely by women. In 2014, a study conducted at Auburn University by Erol Sozen and Martin O’Neill found only 29% of brewery workers are female. Quench talked to four women in the heart of the food and drink business about the realities of working in a male dominated industry.
