If you happen to live in West Vancouver or are planning a trip out there, make sure you visit Fraîche Restaurant. Focusing on seasonal cuisine, it was recently awarded second prize in the category of North Shore Restaurants by the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, the city’s top restaurant industry prize. The awards were presented at a gala attended by peers, colleagues and enthusiasts.

“This is a wonderful acknowledgement for Fraîche and validates our effort,” offers Executive Chef and co-owner Wayne Martin. “We work hard to deliver an exceptional dining experience of both calibre and comfort,” he continues. “Creating memorable, interesting cuisine that is seasonal and regional in a welcoming setting is our mission. Recognition like this means we are providing our guests with what we set out to do.”

After 16 years with the Four Seasons Hotel Group, Martin, the Toronto-born restaurateur and chef, decided it was time to “get back in the kitchen”. Martin opened his first restaurant, Crave on Main Street, in 2005.

Recently the venue for a high profile International Olympics Committee event, Fraîche took on a royal hue as it welcomed Prince Albert of Monaco and other Olympic VIPs. Being named one of Canada’s Top Ten Best New Restaurants of 2008 last fall by enRoute Magazine set the stage for the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards win. The restaurant’s panoramic cityscape views complement Martin’s menus and wine list.
