Tequila

It wasn’t all that long ago that finding the words “luxury” and “tequila” in the same sentence would raise an eyebrow or two. Not anymore. The latest luxe tequila to hit Canada comes in the form of Volcán De Mi Tierra (Blanco and Cristalino). The vivacious Adriana Baca, Volcán Brand Ambassador, explained to me that the uniqueness of the brand comes, in part, due to the blending of agave from both Jalisco’s highland and lowland region, and the blend of traditional and modern production methods. The result is a pair of complex spirits – the blanco showing peppery, fruity, cooked agave notes and a fresh, herbal/citrus palate, with a zesty white pepper finish. The Cristalino (a sort of not-reposado reposado) features a somewhat rounder palate with suggestions of vanilla, caramel and cocao underpinning herbal/agave notes.
