The Singleton Single Malt Scotch Whisky of Dufftown Aged 12 Years

By / Life / September 26th, 2017 / 3

The Singleton Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland and included in the Speyside Scotch Package put together by Diago, a beverage brand company with over 200 brands on their product list.

This Singleton whisky comes from Dufftown. Established in the 1890s, the distillery was the sixth established in the Scottish town; it is found in a converted old saw mill and produced whisky so popular, it was one of the few distilleries that survived the whisky crash of 1898. The Dufftown range of Singleton whiskies are touted as the smoothest with a collection of bold flavours. So I tasted some (with the help of my whisky-loving friends) to find out if their advertising was on point.

Colour-wise, The Singleton Single Malt was a beautiful caramel to amber hue. That caramel characteristic carried over into the glass and nose, giving a sweet smell. Smooth with sweet notes. Nuts and caramel play on the palate. It lingers for a long time, with quite a bit of alcohol-heat present on the dry finish. This is a whisky for intermediate palates.
