Baskin Robbins DIY Sundae Kits

Spring is finally here. The weather is warming up and the sun is shining more and more throughout the day. After the last few months we’ve had, we all deserve a sweet treat! Baskin Robbins has just the thing – Do-it-yourself Sundae Kits (and Polar Pizza Kits) that you can order for delivery or pick up (curbside, because … social distancing). To find out how they work, I tested out the DIY Sundae Kit.

Launched at the beginning of May, the kit serves up to five people. it includes: two ice cream flavours, two types of toppings, one “wet topping” (so, hot fudge), cherries and whipped cream. Our kit had Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream (the caramel swirl is to die for), Mint Chocolate Chip (the good kind), crushed cookies, rainbow sprinkles, fudge, cherries and a can of whipped cream, with five bowls, five spoons, and some napkins. Everything came in individual brown bags or wrapped in napkins. I imagine this was a COVID-19 safety measure. Reassuring, though a lot of material ended up in the recycling bin.

It was very easy to put together our sundaes. We set out everything on the table and then scooped in what we wanted and how much we wanted. If you’re like me, and prefer just a hint of fudge (rather than drowning your sundae) then this kit is perfect. You can adjust the amounts to your liking. Of course, the sundaes themselves tasted great! Baskin Robbins always offers up quality ice creams (according to my husband, the ice cream lover in the family).

When you order a DIY Sundae Kit from Baskin Robbins, you choose the flavours and toppings. So you don’t have to make mint caramel fudge sundaes, like we did, if that’s not to your liking.

Speaking of choosing your flavours… The DIY Sundae Kits, and the Polar Pizza Kits launched at the same time, are available at participating Baskin Robbins locations in Ontario and Quebec. Their press release states that you can order them for home delivery through UberEats or SkipTheDishes. Since I want everyone to be able to treat themselves, I decided to see just how easy this was.

Turns out, “participating locations” is a pretty important part of the equation. I checked 10 different addresses in Quebec and Ontario on both UberEats and SkipTheDishes. UberEats was the only site that offered up the kits. Even then, the kits were only available in Toronto and Montreal, and only one store in four had the kits on their menu. This does make it a bit of a treasure hunt.

If you can’t find the kits on UberEats or SkipTheDishes, you can try calling your local store. Ask them if they have “DIY Sundae Kits” and how to get one of your very own. (Here’s a link to the Baskin Robbins store locator.) Baskin Robbins locations offer curbside pick up and other health-safe delivery options.

All in all, Baskin Robbins’s DIY Sundae Kits are a great family treat that is delicious and fun to make. That is, if you can get your hands on one.
