Black plums, caramelized brown sugar dominate the nose, overlying a burnished tar and brandy note. Very concentrated, young and fiery (as expected of young port of this age), the ripe cassis, black cherry and blackberry jam is mellowed with slightly worn (though still grippy) tannins, enabling its easy drinking now, especially with strong blue cheese. Brown sugar returns on the finish, as does some heat, though easily tamed with more time in bottle or a suitable pairing.
