Ripe, full and rich, with dense white florals, sweet almond paste, fleshy yellow peaches, ripe apricots and musk melon weighting the creamy palate, lingering on the finish with a pool of lemon caramel. Yes, this is not a shy Chardonnay. Fermented and aged in 50% new 225 L Allier oak barriques for 10 months. For all its creaminess, this holds a fine capillary of acidity that streams it along, and a saltiness that buoys it through the finish, elevating it from the old school. If this was half the price, it would make sense and impress.
