A pleasant bouquet of candied strawberry, vanilla, herbs, cocoa and flowers make this an ideal partner for sashimi and sushi. Medium length combined with fresh acidity to round everything out.
This new addition to the LCBO general list certainly delivers for its price point! Raspberry, plum, cherry, pepper, dark cocoa, herbs and violets all come together in this easy-drinking red. Suffice to say, with its lingering flavours and soft tannins, pairing with herb-infused pork dishes or pasta in a red sauce is an easy decision.
This Old Vines Grenache comes from a subregion of Aragon in the central eastern region of Spain. It is dominated by deep, dark fruit with black cherry and plum backed up by spicy and herbal notes, solid tannic structure, good acidity and firm dry grip on the finish. It pairs very well with spicy BBQ spare ribs.
Made near Chassagne-Montrachet and shares many of the attributes. Polished light lemon-yellow, with flowery and apple aromas that open to pears in the glass. Full-bodied with citrus acidity and flavours of lemon and apple. Long finish. Needs more time.
Opens with fresh scents of apple, lemon and toasty almond. The lively palate delivers crisp apple, juicy stone fruits, and candied lemon peel. Finishes clean and refreshing, so goes down easy. An ideal aperitif bubbly given its style, and especially so given its price.
Black cherry and violet up-front with some earthy undertones before a well-structured balance of fruit and acidity; medium-bodied with pure fruit flavours, some forest floor notes, approachable tannins and a pleasing savoury edge through a firm finish.
A blend of Mazuela, Garnacha, Syrah and other varietals, it is a ripe plum colour, so deep it is opaque. Rustic nose of roasted meat, sour cherries and a touch of tar. Full-bodied and beautifully balanced despite the high alcohol; rich flavours of ripe, dark berries shaped by 15 months in French oak. Not an old-fashioned Priorato, but neither is it a newfangled fruit bomb. Needs a couple more years to peak.
