Made of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all the grapes were harvested from the top villages known as Grand Crus — hence the name. A medium gold colour and a bouquet of yeast, toast, apple, cream, lanolin, banana cream, cherry and earth beguiles. There is superb length with fresh acid rounding out the experience.
Delicate notes of chocolate and roasted nuts dance to the nose followed by a sip of light-roasted coffee, dark chocolate and nuts finishing dry and roasty on a gently carbonated, medium body. This English-style brown ale is true to style and elegantly executed. It took home a Gold Medal for the category at the 2016 Canadian Brewing Awards. This is a beer I could spend all day sipping at the pub.
An impressive Chardonnay for Peninsula Ridge, which features peach, banana, pineapple, toast, white flowers, sweet apple, vanilla and honey qualities. Medium-plus body, concentrated and long on the finish.
Shows fine Pinot varietal character with scents of red berry-fruit, earthy barnyard and mushroom aromas. Good depth of succulent red fruit on the palate with savoury overtones suggestive of Old-World style. Very good value.
Already pleasing despite its youth, with noticeable notes of leather and tobacco showing some development. The fruit is fresh and opulent with a nice generosity of plum, graphite and cacao. Medium to full body with ripe chalky yet fine tannins and fresh acid. High alcohol balanced by generosity of fruit. Nice typicity and offering great value.
Beautiful deep gold colour. Rich with lush notes of honey, quince, apricot, chamomile and toast, well balanced by searing acidity. Delicious on its own but shines when served with duck rillettes; the acidity cuts nicely through the fat of the dish.
This is what a great Merlot should be: delicious, ripe and mouth-coating. Plum, chocolate, cherry, red/purple flowers, spice, smoke and mint combine to provide a gratifying experience. Excellent length. Drink until 2020.
