This well-priced Cab has a definite savoury streak which weaves through the cassis, dark cherries, plums, violets, cocoa and spice. The supple tannins, moderate alcohol and fruit-driven finish make for a thoroughly enjoyable glass of wine with hamburgers or pot roast.
Musqué is an aromatic clone of Chardonnay that gives the wine a floral top note. This wine is light straw in colour with a nose of apples and apple blossom; dry and medium-bodied, it's surprisingly light on the palate for its 13.6% alcohol.
The inviting nose is ripe and gives an impression of roundness. Smooth on the palate, nice ripe flavours, completely dry with a clean finish. Impeccable. Drink now.
Aromas of black cherry, plum and dried flowers with soft, silky tannins and a long, elegant finish. Easy-drinking but polished and well-made blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo.
Garnet red in the glass with lightly scented violets, a touch of clove and a pinch of cinnamon. Red berry fruit in the mouth is partially masked by harsh tannins and aggressive acidity typical of relatively young Barolo. Needs 3-5 years additional aging.
Bright ruby. Shy nose of sweet red berries, a floral touch and a hint of tar. Light fruity taste contrasted by a full-bodied and powerful, drying mid-palate. The tannic backbone shows no graininess. Drink or hold about 5 years.
I tasted this magnificent Muscat of Alexandria at the Vancouver Wine Festival. Amber colour with honey, orange peel, raisins, dates and figs on the nose; full-bodied with burnt sugar and molasses flavours, beautifully harmonious with enough acidity to balance and give great length.
