Top-notch stuff! Baked apple, pear, white peach, honey, cream, spice, vanilla and citrus leap from the glass and onto the palate. Sexy mouth feel with refreshing acidity and a finish that carries long. Lobster or crab poached in butter all the way with this beauty!
La Brunante is the flagship Bordeaux-style blend from Hidden Bench and is made only in the best years, where optimum maturity and flavour development are achieved in the vineyard. The wine starts with an explosion of red berries on the nose followed by currants, dark plums, blackberries, anise and a mélange of spices and smoky wood notes. It is no doubt powerful on the palate with evident tannins and oak influence, but it is equally met with a wave of fruit flavours and bits of liquorice, tar, bramble and peppery spices that linger on a long-lasting finish. Such depth of flavour and pleasure that will reward over and over (if cellared properly) for many years to come.
A bargain red from Maremma. Deep ruby in colour with a cedary nose of red cherries; medium-bodied and dry. The cherry flavour is augmented by tangy red currant and bolstered by ripe tannins.
Deep ruby-purple colour, spicy, red berry nose, medium-bodied, soft and fruity with cocoa-like notes; simple and easy drinking with soft tannins.
A crowd-pleaser of a Cabernet Sauvignon with a profile of cassis, blackberry, plum, mint, cocoa, vanilla and herbs. Ready to drink with a soft personality and lingering fruit-tinged aspect.
Aromatic Kiwi Sauvignon style, showing plenty of gooseberry, fresh grassy herb, mineral and a whiff of asparagus. Succulent green fruit on the palate is led by gooseberry, but also reveals overtones of passion fruit. Harmonious balanced with grippy mineral finish.
A mature, well-priced Barbaresco. Tawny ruby in colour with a nose of tar, rose petals and dried cherries; medium-bodied, dry and firmly structured with a tannic lift on the finish.
