Such an elegant and enthralling Super-Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot made in a modern style. The nose starts with earth and wild berries and moves into tobacco, cherries, plums and savoury spices. It is so young, yet irresistible with its complex blend of earth, fruit and spice. The palate reveals dark fruits, minty herbs, black tar, loam and plums to go with smooth tannins through a long finish. Great followup to the amazing 2009.
Made from 100% Tempranillo and aged 12 months in a combination of American and French, of which a portion was new. Strawberry, raspberry, plum, cedar, coconut, vanilla and tomato concentrate are all in play. Fine length with suave tannins. Lamb chops are the way to go with this wine.
Dark with aromas and flavours of crushed currant, dark fruits and earth, dried herbs and black liquorice; full, soft tannins with a silky mouthfeel and intense fruit throughout the long, clean finish.
Warm and ripe perfumed raspberry, rhubarb jam, forest berries and cinnamon bark fill this fleshy palate, one that is threaded with fine lines of acidity. Though this is generous on the palate, it is kept brisk with a fine grit of tannins and raft of spicing. Drinking very well now.
Founded early in the explosion of craft breweries in Ontario, Beyond The Pale has come into their own in the last several years, and Yummy is a great example of their work. The aromas in this hazy IPA are prominent white grapefruit and lime, reminiscent of a Paloma cocktail garnished with a wedge of pineapple. Dry without astringency and bitter enough to remind you it is an IPA after all.
Savoury aromas with hints of violets and ripe fruit. Well-balanced palate with layers of red berries, black fruits and complex tobacco notes. Sourced from 30-year-old-plus vineyards and aged 12 months in French oak barrels. Satisfying texture and finish. Bring on the beef.
Effusive green apple and lime aromas, flecked by beguiling petrol notes. Tropical fruit and ripe peach flavours grip the scintillating palate. The soaring acidity and livewire texture induce salivation, while the persistent wet slate taste finishes dry. An iconic representation of a benchmark Okanagan style. Impressive on its own; inspiring with West Coast seafood.
