This improbable blend of the red Pinotage with Chenin Blanc reveals unusual aromas of dried savoury as well as floral and ripe fruit scents. Characteristic Chenin citrusy flavours lead off on the palate with red berry fruit in a minor key. An imaginative, well-balanced wine.
Brouilly is one of the ten crus (named villages) in the northern Beaujolais region. This example has all the charm you expect from this ready-to-drink wine. Deep purple in colour, it offers a lightly floral nose of ripe plums. It is medium-bodied, dry and juicy, with cherry and red plum flavours with balancing acidity. You can drink it at room temperature with light meat dishes or chill it to bring out the freshness and serve it with tuna.
Yellow/pale-brown tint with the characteristic haziness of beers that were aged on lees. Fresh notes of hops hit your nose first followed by herbs (mostly coriander) and light caramel notes. Of light taste and body, with its medium bitterness (IBU=22), it is an ideal companion to salty snacks. Nicknamed "Megadeth," it was created after brewmaster Jerry Vietz met and was inspired by guitarist/singer Dave Mustaine.
The Maverick Distillery in Oakville flavours this gluten-free, non-GMO corn-based “all-natural” vodka with espresso for a smooth and luxurious spirit enjoyed on its own or as an add-on for hot coffee drinks. It has a smoky, rich nose of roasted coffee beans, vanilla and spice. There is ample sweetness on the palate to balance out the heat (35% abv) and add lift to the espresso flavours.
Purplish. Attractive, typical “Pinot Noir” nose of small red fruits and spicy notes. Quite intense and a bit sauvage. Nice fruity attack, firm middle palate and slightly bitter finish of very good length. Drink over the next 3 to 4 years.
A textbook Barolo full of cherry, prune, flowers, earth, vanilla and spice. Splendid length and well suited to braised lamb shanks.
From the quintessential garagiste with the unpronounceable (to me, anyway) surname Jean-Philippe Janoueix, this medium-deep beet-red wine has a complex and prominent nose of violets, strawberries, cassis and Dutch liquorice, which with time in the glass opens additionally to figs and raisins. Full-bodied with lots of fruit, including cranberries, black and blueberries, it is well-balanced with soft tannins. Long finish. Huge value.
