Tight with searing acidity and mouth-watering well-defined notes of green apple, mushroom, lime and wet stones. Complex long finish. Enjoyable now but will continue to reveal its depth over the next five to nine years.
If you want to have something different in the way of a red wine, try this blend of Xinomavro, Merlot and Syrah. It’s dense purple-ruby in colour with a spicy, cedary nose of plums and black cherries; medium- to full-bodied, it's dry and firmly structured with ripe tannins.
Lorraine is a complex lady, filling her life with plums, raspberries, herbal mint, liquorice, and coffee and they are all present on her medium-to-full-bodied frame. Tannins are present too, but they are buried under the structure. Surprisingly, the acid is fresh, making her all the more attractive, with or without a meal to accompany the occasion.
Light purple. Nice red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) with a touch of cinnamon. A mouthful of intense fruity taste with a little grip from the tannins to add structure. Clean finish and ready to drink.
This wine is a sexy winner! Full-bodied, the bouquet of plums, dark cherries, cocoa, earth and coffee also unfurl on the rich, glycerine-laden palate. With no harsh edges and superb length, this wine will age gracefully over the next 5 to 8 years. Make sure to grab a couple of bottles for the cellar.
Very dark ruby. Sun-dried raisins and an intriguing note reminiscent of aged Parmigiano cheese. Very nice on the palate, tons of fruit and just enough sugar to give it a nice balance and a full body. For port-lovers in need of something new.
My first experience with this wine was back in 2003, when I was teaching sommeliers in Chicago. Consistently, it is a wine that delivers maximum bang for the buck. Medium bodied, the dark plums, black raspberries, milk chocolate, earth and spice are all in the mix. There is excellent length and it is ready to drink.
