Protea is South Africa's national flower, and this wine and beautifully distinctive label pays tribute to the beautiful bloom. This is a lean, tighter chenin, with lemon and greengage, green melon, pear and green apple. Grapes from across the Western Cape were selected for this wine, fully crushed and fermented in stainless before time in stainless and 10% in 600 l oak barrels for 5 months prior to bottling. That barrel is all but entirely absorbed by the fruit, leaving some firm spice lingering on the finish.
