Next we heading a little over to the west to the picturesque Alaskan town of Haines. There they have a museum dedicated to hammers. According to the website, their goal is to “preserve the history of the world’s first tool, the hammer.” Well, they’ve succeeded. Their collection includes everything from dental tools to photos of historic figures holding hammers to a hammer from 2500 BC once used by the ancient Egyptians.

Hammer Museum is open May through September, Mondays and Fridays. Don’t forget to admire the giant hammer constructed by museum founder Dave Pahl in 2007.
