Ruby red, fruit-driven wine highlighting fresh and elegant fruit, spiciness, bright acidity, light tannins and a lingering finish. A great example of the great value coming out of Spain. Very food-versatile so try it with just about anything.
Interesting, rather complex nose shows developed fruit, and a dusting of fine spice. Red fruit flavours and gradually softening tannins with a touch of mocha and lightly astringent finish. Characterful, but atypical Rioja.
Ruby/garnet. Ripe red fruits on the slightly perfumed nose, oak is well dosed. Good freshness and extract, full bodied, a bit compact and one-dimensional at this stage. Excellent buy if you let it sleep for 3 to 5 years.
Candied fruits, soft spices, lychee on the expressive nose. Nice fattiness on the palate, extra roundness is brought by a tad of residual sugar. Finish is a bit short but well balanced. 85% Moscatel, the Spanish name for Muscat, plus 15% Gewürztraminer.
Sherry, I’m convinced, will soon make a comeback. It’s the perfect pre-dinner drink and a great accompaniment for a variety of foods depending on its sweetness level. This bone-dry offering has a nose of dried apricots, almonds and camomile. There’s a hint of saltiness on the nose; it’s fresh and lively on the palate with great length.
Sherry may be an acquired taste, but once you have it, it can be a tremendous source of joy. This very old blend has been aged about 30 years in total, the last 10 in the unique solera system. Very hard to put in words, its nose shows notes of dried fruits, nuts, caramel and oak. Unctuous, concentrated, its taste is equally complex and hard to describe, but definitely worth trying. Unbelievable length, too.
Dark ruby. Red and black fruits, some oak notes. Tight and full on the palate, generous fruit and elegant tannins. Finish is clean and pleasant. Quite beautiful right now.
