Clear medium-deep lemon yellow. Interesting medium-intensity nose of gooseberry, lemon, orange blossom, pineapple, even a bit of ground coriander. Medium-bodied with good acidity and a long finish. Tastes of pineapple, lime, lemon and a bit of lychee. Complex and elegant, an SB to be savoured, not quaffed. Drink soon.
Clear medium-deep garnet. Reticent nose of herbs and forest floor underlying cranberry and plum/prune aromas. Light-bodied, soft and fruity with cherry flavours and some kirsch bitterness on the finish. Drink now.
Clear deep plum red. Nose of blackberry, prune, white pepper and a touch of mace. Medium-bodied and well balanced with smooth tannins backing up red and black berry flavours and vanilla from the oak-aging. An elegant Shiraz, fruity but not a “bomb.” Will improve for another year or 2. Delicious with Schwartz’s smoked duck served with fresh Brussels sprouts roasted in a tangy olive oil.
Lively and aromatic wine showing floral, lemon citrus and mineral character and succulent, limpid green fruit flavours on the palate. Polished, attractively balanced, very drinkable wine.
Clear, rich reddish-orange. Nose is laid-back, but shows citrus, floral and green almond notes. Light-bodied, soft and fruity with apple and red berry flavours. Easy-drinking; serve very cold and soon.
Ripe and warm strawberry jam fills the nose and leads the palate of this Yarra Valley Pinot, an area generally well suited to this heartbreak grape. Cherry gummies, perfumed raspberries, forest floor and fine pink peppercorn are supported by fine and ripe tannins, finishing with a flood of acidity, a stemmy grip and a whack of heat. Youthful and welcoming; enjoy with salmon burgers.
Loads of ripe blackberry and black cherry aromas and flavours with mocha, black pepper, tobacco, savoury herbs, fine-grained tannins and a fresh, lifted finish. A splash of Tempranillo blended in adds to the character of the wine. A nice match with lamb and wild game.
