Tony Aspler Honoured!!

Tidings Magazine and 680News is proud to announce that our very own Wine Guy, Tony Aspler, has received the Order of Canada. Tony has spent the past 30 years number of years profiling and educating Canadians about wines. He has traveled the world, bringing home to Canada new wines he has tasted on his tours. He is the anchor columnist for Tidings Magazine and the author of numerous books, including his most recent The Definitive Canadian Wine & Cheese Cookbook and The Wine Atlas of Canada.

John Hinnen, Vice President and General Manager of 680News says, “Weare extremely proud and delighted to make this announcement regardingTony. Tony says, “While growing up, I tried to impress upon my parents thatwhat I really wanted to do for a living was drink wine and write aboutit. I wish they had lived to see this day.”

The Order of Canada is the centerpiece of Canada’s honour system andrecognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to thecommunity and service to the nation. The Order recognizes people in allsectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet theyhave all enriched the lives of others and made a difference in ourcountry. Any person or group is welcome to nominate a deservingindividual as a candidate for appointment to the Order of Canada, withthe average number of nominations between 700 – 800 per year.
