UV Sriracha Chili Pepper Flavored Vodka

Adding hot sauce to food is a time honoured tradition among those who prefer a little kick in their meal (or a full on roundhouse to the tastebuds). Well, heat-lovers take note – you can now enjoy a roundhouse kick in your vodka.

UV Sriracha Chili Pepper Flavored Vodka is exactly what it sounds like – vodka infused with the flavour of the all-powerful chili pepper. The supplier sources from the actual ingredients used in traditional Sriracha, rather than trying to artificially flavour the vodka. They follow a strict process that ensures the taste profile is consistent and aligned with the Sriracha flavour of chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt.

Smells a bit like cracked pepper and vinegar; the aromas actually made me think of the Triscuit’s cracked pepper and olive oil crackers. But that could just be me.

I had a few hot sauce-loving friends taste on my behalf (mostly because any hint of chilis or hot pepper sends me into a red-faced panic). According to them, it doesn’t quite taste like you’d expect. It has the heat and definitely burns like Sriracha. They gave it a thumbs up, letting me know that its flavour is close to actual Sriracha.

This is one vodka that seemed to be made with the Canadians in mind (even though you can’t purchase it in Canadian liquor stores… yet). It is the perfect Bloody Caesar ingredient; the heat from the vodka means you don’t have to add hot sauce… or you can, if it doesn’t have enough kick. They have a few other cocktail suggestions on their site that are worth trying out. Not the best on its own, unless you’re a super hot-spicy lover.

Oh… don’t put it in orange juice though – trust me on this one.
