Starbucks Iced Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato

Back in 2015, Starbucks added coconut milk to their fridges as an alternative to milk and soy milk in their beverages. In July, they took advantage of that addition to develop their first coconut-milk-based iced coffee on their menu. The recipe includes coconut milk, espresso, white mocha sauce, caramel and ice; the Iced Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato is made by pouring espresso shots over chilled coconut milk and topping the whole dish with caramel and mocha sauce.
For those who aren’t a fan of the taste of coconut, don’t run away just yet. The coconut is subtle in the glass. In fact, the combination of flavours makes it taste like the iced caramel macchiato’s creamier cousin. Which means that perhaps the name of the drink would more accurately be “Iced Coconut Milk Mocha-Caramel Macchiato”.
Coconut milk is lactose free, is a vegan-friendly alternative to milk, has less calories and contains lots of healthy fats. This means that coconut milk is a great alternative for those trying to follow a specific diet for health or lifestyle reasons.
Available for a limited time, the Iced Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato hit coffee lovers’ hands in July and was available all summer. Hopefully they’ll keep it around for a while … or develop a hot version for the winter.
