WUD Martini Glass

By / Food / April 15th, 2014 / 2

Colorado based designer, David Rasmussen, has ventured into the realm of drinkware – wooden drinkware, that is. Primarily a furniture designer, he has taken his love of wood – and the warmth it imparts – to the world of food and drink. His WUD collection includes a tumbler, wine glass, martini glass and several plates and trays.

The vintage feeling of the martini glass is further enhanced by its colourful aluminum stem that can be custom ordered in red, white, blue or lime. The bowl and the base of the glass are hand crafted from black walnut and finished with an FDA-approved sealant that prevents the wood from imparting its own flavours to your drink of choice.

If beauty wasn’t enough to sway you, perhaps logic will; wood is actually a better insulator than glass. The WUD martini glass is designed to keep your cocktail chilled longer than the traditional martini glass. Design and function – the perfect combination. But, be forewarned, this comes at a price. One WUD Martini Glass will run you about $60US or $100 for a pair.
