Repurposing Paint Cans
I’m sure everyone’s had that moment where they’ve wondered what to do with empty paint cans. Do you throw them out? Recycle them? Toss them in the garage and forget they exist? Here are five ways to repurpose empty paint cans that add a bit of spunk to your decor:
A Floral Arrangement
Punch a few holes in the bottom, pour in dirt and you have a unique planter for your porch, deck or windowsill. If you varying sizes, paint them with your dining room’s accent colours and use them as vases in your center piece.
Ice Bucket
The metallic sheen of a cleaned up paint can complements a nice white wine any day.
Organization in the Office
Use the bigger ones to hold mail to set up an “in” and “out” box in your office. The smaller cans are great for storing pens, pencils and highlighters for easy access.
Storage in Style
Paint with your living room or entrance way’s accent colours, then mount the bottom of the can to your wall. The opening is the perfect size for knick knacks, magazines, keys, wallets – anything you usually leave on a table.
A New Kind of Art
Now that you have repurposed all of the cans themselves, take the lids and make a bit of art. Try painting interesting images on them or paste family photos in the middle to create unique picture frames for your hallway.
