Picnic For A Winter’s Day

By / Food / March 5th, 2012 / 1

The weather this winter has been a real roller coaster. I can only guess about what winter has been like where you are, but here in Southern Ontario it’s been almost spring-like. Except for a few days of snow and cold, we’ve seen fog, rain and bizarre temperatures. Who’s ever heard of hitting highs of about +10°C on many days in each month of winter? Whether or not winter has been typical where you are, I have a great idea that is sure to herald an early spring. We’re halfway through February, and March (regardless of what Mother Nature may decide to throw at us) is officially the month of spring. So, why not entice warm and sunny weather to grace us with their presence a little earlier than might be usual?

The idea of a picnic just screams beautiful weather. Enjoy these meal suggestions outside, if possible. Or, eat somewhere other than the table (living room floor?) for a change. Right, so you want to go all out? Visit a party store and pick up an inflatable palm tree! Light one or two floral scented candles and put on some beach music. Sound too crazy? Well, encourage spring using whatever décor feels right for you. In the meantime, here are some tasty meal suggestions.
