New Cocktail to Welcome the World

By / Food / June 25th, 2010 / 1

This weekend’s G20 and G8 summits in Toronto are sure to leave a few residents and visitors a little hot under the collar. Let’s show the world what great hosts Canadians can be. Mott’s Clamato is a truly Canadian drink invented here in 1969 to celebrate the opening of Marco’s Italian restaurant at what was then called The Calgary Inn (now the Westin Calgary). The resident mixologist at the time was inspired by the flavours of the restaurant’s signature dish, Spaghetti with Clams. He arrived at the tasty discovery by combining tomato juice, clam nectar, lime, Worcestershire Sauce and celery salt. Voilà – history was made.

In a toast to visiting world leaders, journalists, protestors and bystanders, Mott’s Clamato offers this new cocktail.

2 dashes hot sauce
