Cheat a Little – Buy Repurposed Items Online

By / Food / July 7th, 2014 / 2

You’ve probably seen a few articles on here about repurposing different household items. I love a good craft as much as you do, but sometimes I just don’t have the time. Buy your repurposed items online instead at one of these great stores.

Uncommon Goods

$10 – $5,000
From reclaimed neckties to upcycled cotton and over to repurposed coins, their selection is inspiring and appropriate for any budget. The site itself is dedicated to sourcing and selling “uncommon” goods, so even if you’re not looking for a repurposed item, you’ll still find a great conversation starter.

$3 – $2,500
Every item sold at Hipcycle is made from materials that would otherwise have been thrown in the trash. You can browse their products by material or category. They relish the beauty of “upcycled” products, which is that no two pieces are identical, even if they’re supposed to be – like dinnerware set. Unfortunately, this American company doesn’t ship internationally.

$10 – $100
One of the first companies to sell repurposed (or upcycled as they call it) products, all of Looptworks merchandise comes with a lifetime guarantee. Their goal is to ensure that these hard-to-recycle materials never make it to the dump. Every product is a limited edition; they write how many were made and let you know which number yours was made.

$3 – $40
A full service company, they provide communities and big brand companies in the US and Canada with a way to recycling “garbage” so that it skips the dump and goes right into repurposed products that they sell. Participants are given a “waste box” of their choice that they mail to TerraCycle when it’s full. TerraCycle then sorts the materials and creates repurposed products that they sell online and in stores like Target and WalMart.
