How Clean Is Your Water

By / Food / October 7th, 2010 / 1

Ever wondered how clean bottled water is? There have been so many conflicting reports lately debating the purity of water. Some of those reports make it sound like the industry is completely unregulated. Although there are definitely some less than honest water bottlers out there, for the most part, companies bottling water are very concerned about meeting industry standards. Yes, there actually are industry standards. In fact, the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) is the independent organization in charge of surprise plant visits and quality assurance audits.

The NSF, as part of its contractual relationship to the Canadian Bottled Water Association (CBWA), is required to make unannounced, unscheduled visits to bottling plants of CBWA members to conduct their independent quality assurance audits. Most recently Canadian Springs water bottling facilities scored an unprecedented 100% in its Vancouver facility, while scoring 97.5% in their Canada-wide plants. Knowing how a company has scored is a great way to help you decide which bottled water is safe to drink.
