An App-filled Resolution

I resolve to… are three words that make people quiver in fear. But with all of the mobile apps available, resolutions should be met with courage and confidence. Picking the right app is difficult. Luckily for you, these are some great apps.

I resolve to…

Be more active:

Endomondo
iPhone, Android, BlackBerry & Web
Sometimes you need friends to keep you motivated. This social fitness app tracks duration, distance and calories in real-time, while keeping tabs on what your friends are doing. Try the sports challenges from popular sponsors, like Adidas and Nike.

Moves
iPhone & Android
A big hit in 2013, Moves shows your movements throughout the day in an easy-to-digest timeline. A recent update uses the iOS 7 motion monitor, automatically detecting pace and distance, and calculating burned calories.

Live healthier:

MyFitnessPal
iPhone, Android, BlackBerry & Windows Phones
This app makes calorie counting easy and it gets results. The food diary function is a great way to watch what you eat and the fitness component makes this an all-in-one healthy living app.

Whole Foods Market Recipes
iDevices & Web
Though I vowed to include only apps available on multiple platforms, this is too good to miss. The search function allows you to select the main ingredient, dietary need, type of dish and purpose to find the perfect recipe.

Save money:

Mint
iPhone, Android & Windows Phones
Consolidate your banking in one easy-to-use app. Mint syncs with most US and Canadian Banks (they’re working on expanding internationally) and analyzes your spending habits so you can see where you can save.

HomeBudget
iPhone, Android & Windows/Mac
Creating a budget easy – maintaining it is hard. Apps help because you can update your budget on the fly. I like HomeBudget because you can sync across multiple devices… ideal for family budgets.
