Whisky Wiseman is a not-for-profit group that was founded in Vancouver in 2013. What started as a monthly casual get together over drinks and a good cause has morphed into a community of professionals, active across seven chapters who are on a mission of social philanthropy over a good drink. Whisky Wisemen host #socialwhisky events monthly and bigger member events throughout the year. Professionals come together for personal and professional development and are encouraged to get outside their comfort zones.

Creative Director Nick Harborne, founding member, has had quite the ride steering the organization from its early days to today. Nick started posting about whisky every day and the follower count continued to click. Today @whiskywiseman can claim over 60,000 followers on Instagram. Nick’s expertise and experience provided opportunities to travel and speak about whisky around the world. Today Whisky Wisemen boasts a board of six, including CEO Lesley Brown.

If you are looking to attend one of their monthly events, you can find Whisky Wisemen meeting on the #thirdThursday of the month for #socialwhisky in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Toronto, NYC, Miami and Grand Cayman Island. Venues contribute 10 percent of the sales from the events to Whisky Wisemen for charitable giving. For those who prefer to drink up more of the action, the Club Wise membership is available and offers members exclusive access to additional private events throughout the year.

Whisky Wisemen have even developed their own signature cocktail, The Wiseman, inspired by an Old Fashion. The Wiseman is available in several bars across Vancouver. In keeping in the spirit of giving, the bars serving up The Wisemen have committed to donating $1 from each drink to a local Vancouver based charity. The team are working on supplying The Wiseman in a ready to drink format available in stores. A portion of the proceeds will be donated.

To date the Whisky Wisemen have donated $87,500 to charities. They accept applications to be considered for donations and the applications can be found on their Charity Partners webpage. We’ll raise our glasses to that!
