We’re In It Together – What Quench Magazine is doing to help Canadian producers during COVID-19

By / Wine + Drinks / April 16th, 2020 / 22

These are certainly the most trying of times. As we plan to stay safe in the coming months, I wanted to detail what Quench is doing and how we will try to lend a helping hand to local producers and the hospitality industry.

With the recent closure of non-essential businesses in Quebec, our printing press has been forced to shut down. We’ve made the tough decision to reduce the print issues to six this year. Our next print issue will be published in September 2020.

But that doesn’t mean we are not working. Our writers and editors are set up to continue publishing online. Over the coming months, we will post a number of series and features on winemaking regions across Canada and the United States. Our international wine specialists, like wine editor Gurvinder Bhatia, contributing editor Tod Stewart as well as our contributors will share highlights from their recent trips abroad. As people stay at home, they continue to look for what they love — stories with a sense of place. Quench has always painted a picture of place and people. In these self-isolating times, readers are still looking for a view of the outside world. Quench is leading them towards a window.

In order to help those businesses in our industry we know are affected by the health crisis, Quench is offering all Canadian wine, spirits and beer producers, as well as the restaurants and hospitality centres linked to them, free advertising on our social networks Through our We’re In It Together (WIIT) initiative, eligible producers can apply to have their content promoted on our social media profiles. Each producer will receive one Instagram and two Facebook posts that they can use at any time in 2020. To apply for WIIT, click the link below.

This is the time to highlight your online ordering, talk about the extraordinary people who work for you, announce a new product or share your stories — you choose. We don’t know how long this crisis will last but one thing is for sure, our readers are eager to hear from you. Stay safe.
