One More Time Unto the Rosé

By / Wine + Drinks / April 30th, 2014 / Like

I hate to belabour a wine style but I’m going back to the rosé well one more time – and why not, tomorrow is the first of May and you know the old rhyme:

Hurray Hurray the first of May,

Rosé sipping begins today.

But there’s another reason I’m going back to the Rosé Well. No sooner had I put last week’s column to bed that I tasted another flight of rosés (tis the season after all) and found another three that you simply have to add to your list of “got to tries”, and here they are:

Chateau La Tour de L’Eveque 2013 Rosé, France ($18.95)

A kitchen sink of grapes mash up of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Rolle and Semillon from the home of rosé, Provence. Dry and delicate with the right amount of apricot pit to raspberry ratio.

Famille Perrin 2013 Tavel Rosé, France ($19.95)

“Tavel” is synonymous with serious rosé and there’s plenty to get excited about here. Raspberry and strawberry abound with great acidity and dryness on the finish.

Mas des Bressades 2013 Cuvee Tradition Rosé, France ($15.95)

Apple core and strawberry mingle on the tongue together with touches of floral, it all finishes off with great mouth cleansing acidity.
