#FridayCocktail: Patio Pitcher Margaritas

By / Wine + Drinks / August 30th, 2013 / 1

I have visited Mexico and have had my fair share of what can be considered authentic Margaritas. So, I’m not claiming this is a purists’ version, by any means. It will, however, hit the spot on a warm summer afternoon and I promise, your guests will not complain. This patio pitcher style Margarita certainly ticks all the boxes for a tasty, quick and easy version of a summer favourite.

This is a great pre-meal cocktail, served alongside the ultimate deck party nosh; Mango Salsa with warm tortilla chips.

Ingredients

1 – 12 ounce can of MinuteMaid Frozen Concentrate Limeade

9 ounces Tequila (3/4 can)

4 ounces Cointreau (1/3 can)

1 fresh lime

2 Tablespoons Kosher salt

Ice (the equivalent of 2 – 12 ounce cans)

Preparation

Empty the frozen limeade into a blender, keeping the can for the easy measurement of the remainder of the ingredients.

Add 2 1/2 cans of cold water, 2 cans of ice, 3/4 can of tequila and 1/3 can of Cointreau. Blend until smooth.

Cut your lime in 8 equal wedges.

Add the Kosher salt to a plate large enough to accommodate the rim circumference of the glass you plan to serve in.

Wet the circumference of the glass using a wedge of lime. Twist the rim of the glass in the salt and return the lime as garnish to the rim. Repeat for each glass you serve.

Pour the Margarita mix in a pitcher for presentation or serve directly from blender to glass.

Serves 8
