Cocktail Monday – Red Velvet

By / Wine + Drinks / January 16th, 2012 / 1

Adapted from a recipe developed by Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery, St. Catharines. So, exactly how this version of the Red Velvet cocktail imitates the original, which includes gin, banana liqueur, soda pop, lime juice and grenadine, is a little beyond me. Sure, the Cabernet Franc Icewine brings with it flavours of tropical fruit and sweetness, and the rosé will lend the cocktail its pretty colour. Overall, I wouldn’t worry about matching the original flavours exactly. Enjoy it for what it is — a celebration for your taste buds.

Red Velvet

Guiness or Stout
1/2 oz Cabernet Franc Icewine
Rosé sparkling wine

Half fill a flute glass with the stout. Over a spoon (to layer), pour icewine followed by rosé sparkling wine to fill.
