Vancouver International Wine Festival Climate Change Symposium

On February 26, wine industry leaders will gather at the Vancouver Convention Centre West for the Climate Change Symposium. Moderated by Michelle Bouffard, the expert panel will explore how the wine world is being forced to adapt to climate change.

Panelists will discuss what they’re doing to address climate change. The panelists include: Richard Angove, Managing Director of Angove Family Winemakers in South Australia; Felicity Carter, Editor-in-chief at Meininger’s Wine Business Int.; Pierre Corvisier, director of new services at JF Hillebrand; Michael Fagan, Managing Director at Uncork1 Inc, and formerly a Manager at the LCBO Knowledge Resources Group; Katie Jackson, Senior VP Corporate Social Responsibility at Jackson Family Wines in Sonoma County; and Lenz Moser from Lenz Moser Winery in Austria.

The Vancouver International Wine Festival (VIWF) is the largest wine festival in the Americas, with over 25,000 admissions each year. It’s also Canada’s premier wine show and one of the best in the world.

VIWF runs for eight days from February 22 to March 1. During that time, 16 countries will be represented at 57 events held in 30 different venues. Attendees will taste nearly 1,450 wines. In addition, a portion of the festival ticket sales and proceeds from the gala dinner and auction will support Vancouver’s Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival.

The Climate Change Symposium is part of the three-day Trade Days Conference that runs from February 26 to 28. This conference offers trade opportunities for winemakers, wine growers and winery owners to grow their wine knowledge at seminars, tastings and networking lunches.

The Climate Change Symposium will start at 9:30am and run until 11:45am on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Attendees can buy tickets on the symposium’s event page here; tickets cost $40.
