Canada from Coast to Coast

By / Wine + Drinks / September 3rd, 2014 / 2

As a Canadian wine writer I find it my duty to shine the light on great Canadian wines … After all, if I don’t who will? That’s why each month I’ll take a look at some of the good ones that cross my lips.

Your mission this month, if you choose to accept it, is to try the following three wines that I fell for and I think you will too (this message will self-destruct in …):

Sperling Vineyards 2012 Pinot Noir, British Columbia ($27.95)

A dark fruit core of cherry and strawberry which burst both on the nose and in the mouth; but then along comes delicate tannins which add to the enjoyment of the wine without overpowering.

Benjamin Bridge 2013 Nova Seven, Nova Scotia ($24.95)

A white wine “highlighting select Muscat grape varieties from the east coast that brings sweet and peachy to the next level, all with a little spritz to make it interesting.

Fielding 2013 Lot 17 Riesling, Ontario ($27.95)

A succulent blend of aromas and flavours neatly balanced by acidity and sweetness: pear and peach bring the fruit, while the minerality helps the wine sing on the palate, here we get that full-on Niagara Bench Riesling experience.
