5 Montreal bars to visit while social distancing

Montreal bars open with social distancing measures in place.

In the best of times, tourists flock to Montreal every year for the colourful nightlife scene. With its delicious food, beautiful rooftop terraces and abundant cocktails, this city really is one of the best when it comes to nights out. Many favourite local bars have finally reopened, and so here are some of the best bars to go to in Montreal right now (while practicing social distancing of course!)

Suwu

3581 St Laurent Blvd

Suwu really does it all; they offer brunch on weekends (with unlimited mimosas for just $35), dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, as well as typically operating as a club until 3AM. While you may not be able to use their dance floor these days, this doesn’t stop them from serving up some of the best food and drinks in the Plateau. They have food options for your meat-eating friends and your vegan friends alike at a very reasonable price along with a great atmosphere. My favourite part? Definitely the two-for-one drink special from 5-7pm.

Dirty Dogs

3685 St Laurent Blvd & 2010 Crescent St

With two locations in downtown Montreal, Dirty Dogs is a classic go-to spot for some great food and large drinks. They sell some your favourite cocktails in an extra-large bucket format, making it the perfect place for a night out with friends. A bar that offers up more than 10 different kinds of authentic Montreal poutine will always be a hit in my books!

Darling

4328 St Laurent Blvd

This bar has one of the most unique and beautiful interiors I’ve seen so far. Filled with lots of greenery and natural light, Darling is the perfect place to grab some mouth-watering sharing plates and drinks with friends. They have an awe-inspiring variety of alcohols, so there’s something new and exciting to try every time you visit.

Santos Tapas Bar

191 Saint-Paul St West

Santos is located in the Old Port, one of Montreal’s most historic and beautiful areas. It is one of my favourite spots for a variety of reasons: delectable, well-priced food, fantastic music, and did I mention that it’s all-you-can-drink for ladies on Tuesday nights when you purchase $27 worth of food? Talk about a deal! If you’re looking for a reliable bar to have your next girls’ night out, look no further.

Bowhead Pub

3723 St Laurent Blvd

What’s so special about this place? It’s the first plant-based pub to hit Montreal! I’ve taken even my most committed meat-loving friends here and even they had nothing but high praise to sing about this Plateau spot. Every time I’ve tried a new dish from this pub, I’ve been the furthest thing from disappointed. It’s the perfect place to get a low-key drink with a friend over some wonderful cocktails and food.
