4 Holiday Cocktails – It’s that time!
The holiday season gets its official kick-off in North America with the coming of American Thanksgiving, celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. 12 days from now, if you’re counting. Oh, and 40 days until Christmas.
Here are 4 rum cocktails, perfect for the season (or pre-season) courtesy of Appleton Estate and bartender extraordinaire, Andy Hunter of Toronto.
SPICED JAMAICAN ESTATE DAIQUIRI
2 OZ – Appleton Estate Signature Blend
0.75 OZ – Fresh lime juice
0.75 OZ – Allspice-clove simple syrup
Shake and strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with lime wheel.
APPLE CIDER BUTTERED ESTATE RUM
1 OZ – Appleton Estate Rare Blend
1 TBSP – Apple cider steeped tea
1.5 TSP – Demerara sugar
1 KNOB – Butter
Build in mug and top with boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Remove teabag and garnish with cinnamon stick.
DRURY LANE SWIZZLE
1.5 OZ – Appleton Estate Signature Blend
0.5 OZ – Gingerbread syrup
0.5 OZ – Fresh lime juice
2 DASHES – Angostura orange bitters
Build ingredients in Collins glass and fill 3/4 with crushed ice. Use swizzle stick until glass is frosty, top with crushed ice and garnish with candied ginger on a skewer.
ANY PORT IN A STORM
1.5 OZ – Appleton Estate Reserve Blend
1 OZ – Fresh grapefruit juice
0.5 OZ – Cinnamon simple syrup
3 – Droppers Chicory Pecan Bitters
2.5 OZ – Ginger Beer
Shake first four ingredients and strain into Collins glass. Top with ginger beer and ice. Garnish with grapefruit zest.
