Bright citrus, papaya and pineapple aromas and flavours that are focused and penetrating, great construction and just the right amount of acidity. An excellent value.
Here is a tropical-style Sauvignon Blanc which has seen some new oak influence. The bouquet of pineapple, honey, flowers, vanilla, yeast and parsley meets up with minerals and high acid on the palate. The long aftertaste makes me want to pair this with grilled mahi mahi topped with a jalapeño/tropical-fruit salsa.
Rich and fruity, with roasted plum, fig, wild raspberry and dark cherry flavours, spice and a lifted, mouth-filling finish.
Shows fine, persistent bead in the glass with a delicate floral scent over green fruit and a whiff of brioche. Green fruit flavours are delivered in a creamy textured, medium weight package supported by firm mineral and lively acidity. Finish is lightly fruity with a splash of vanilla.
This has always been my favourite Chardonnay from Tawse. The 2010 vintage, with all its heat, has produced a fuller and rounder wine than recent vintages. Medium- to full-bodied, it is the oak which dominates at this early stage: vanilla, smoke, caramel, spice and cream meshes with apple/pear purée and pineapple. The mouth is creamy and round with excellent length and a long, smoky aftertaste.
Clear pale yellow. Fairly intense nose of peaches, apricots, and McIntosh apple. Medium-bodied and surprisingly dry given the very fruity nose. Versatile food wine with fresh acidity and an interesting slightly bitter finish. Will last another year or 2.
From one of the region's leading sustainable vignerons, this is organic, wild-ferment Muscadet, aged sur lie in earthen vessels, buried in the ground to keep cool and rest (obviously no racking) until the following spring. Light pear, subtle earthy lees, river stone, white florals and a fine vein of saline-laced lemon. Juicy and fresh with lovely tension throughout, cushioned by a gentle pillow of creamy lees and and driven by minerality. Would be a stunner with fresh oysters; a Muscadet that is worth laying down for a couple of years.
