Ripe and fresh dark-cherry and wildberry aromas and flavours, with hints of earth and spice and a beautiful touch of minerality on the silky finish. Quite approachable, but still has a robust quality, as the flavours are really full and well defined. Grilled roast pork or chicken would be perfect.
Winemaker/cider maker Richie Roberts uses only Niagara apples, presses while fresh and lets the well-settled juice ferment in a combination of stainless steel at cool temperatures and in neutral oak barrels. I love this everyday cider with its pale yellow colour, light carbonation and tingly acidity on the palate that shows off ripe, bright apple, squirt of lemon and hint of toast. It’s clean, crisp and expressive on the palate with refreshing apple, touch of sweetness balanced by citrus acidity and broad texture through the finish.
Another Cowichan Valley pace-setter for Vancouver Island, this very expressive style brims with bright ripe apple and grapefruit hints wrapped in juicy acidity with tropical notes underpinned by moderate acidity.
Warmly scented ripe raspberry and peppery spice on the nose, with raspberry and blackberry in the mouth, supported by good tannic grip and food-friendly acidity. A hearty, characterful Rhône red and great value for money.
What a gorgeous Okanagan Cab Sauv, so rich and fulsome with an attractive nose of blackberry, raspberry, bramble, currants, plums, saddle leather and barrel spices. It’s not overpowering on the palate and shows some elegance to go with lush and savoury dark fruits, ripe tannic structure and brightening acidity through a long finish.
Clear pale silver-yellow. Powerful aromas of banana and apple, together with a slight peach bouquet which manifests the inclusion of 5% Viognier grapes. On the palate it is completely dry, contrary to the very fruity nose. Light-bodied with a long finish of apple and peach flavours. I enjoyed this with summer squash soup garnished with truffle oil and toasted pumpkin seeds. Drink now.
A blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dolcetto and Lagrein. Enticing nose reflects the complex blend of varietals overlaid with a dusting of cinnamon and a light kiss of clove. Layers of red and dark fruit with gutsy tannic structure and food-friendly drying finish. Drink with grilled steak, roast lamb or other robust red meat dishes.
